Timber Treatment

All measures that are taken to ensure a long life of wood fall under the definition wood preservation (timber treatment). Apart from structural wood preservation measures, there are a number of different (chemical) preservatives and processes (also known as timber treatment or lumber treatment) that can extend the life of wood, timber, wood structures or engineered wood. These generally increase the durability and resistance from being destroyed by insects or fungus.

The following is the timber treatment plant which is used by WSL to increase the life span and reliability of timber.

The following is the picture of the kiln that is used by WSL.Wood drying (also seasoning lumber or wood seasoning) refers to reducing the moisture content of wood prior to its use.

There is a reasons for drying wood:

Woodworking - When wood is used as a construction material, whether as a structural support in a building or in woodworking objects, it will absorb or desorb moisture until it is in equilibrium with its surroundings. The equilibration process (usually drying) causes unequal shrinkage in the wood, and can cause damage to the wood if the equilibration process occurs too rapidly. The process of equilibration needs to be controlled in order to prevent damage to the wood.
